I'm in. I'm glad to hear that it's noob friendly, although I'm more nervous about temperature than I am distance since I'm new to hanging more so than hiking.
MM, I am guessing the high number of crossings the nice lady at the visitor center quoted me included every single time a waterway of any size was crossed, regardless of size. Many were the smallest trickles...more of ditches than streams. The bigger ones...I will say 12-15, almost all being very shallow and easily rockhopped. There were really only 3 or 4 that I even considered my crocs for, only one of which came close to width and none to the depth of the crossings from last november

The route starts at twin arches, then slave falls to laurel fork creek across to black house branch, then up to charit creek and on to the arches again.

We're glad to have you. Going to hangs puts you on the fast track of the learning curve, then a year later you're the hang leader. Time will tell about the weather but if the hiking mileage looks easy you can always pack a bit more. Plus this group has always taken care of their fellow hanger in need.Originally Posted by aidanpryde18

It all depends on the rain from the days leading up to the hike. These creeks rise and fall fast. Last year in October Laurel Fork had to be waded on most of the crossings. Rayn and I ended up hiking the Laurel Fork creek section in crocs.
When we get close and see what the weather is I know someone who probably has a couple extra UQ's to match the temps
If someone is running later on Friday they can go in at Sawmill Trail head to Laurel Fork Creek. This will probably be about 1/2 way thru the days hike.
Anyone that would like to come in on Saturday night could park at the Charit Creek trailhead for a short hike to where Spam plans on camping for the night
Hangnout, you probably know well where my camp was and what I am aiming at for friday night. The spot where laurel fork crosses the first horse trail. Nice big area, good water source, plenty of trees, and a good amount of down wood to burn.

If it has some fencing with a walkthrough to prevent horses from going upstream to the campsite that is where we had lunch on our trip last year. Your scouting trip is paying off! I remember thinking it would be a good spot.
