    Eno Suspension Question!

Hey all, I'm new to the hammock world and I recently purchased an Eno DN. As fate would have it, the store was sold out of Slap Straps, so I decided to do a bit of research. I've seen a lot of reviews saying the nylon on the slap straps is too stretchy and can lead to discomfort and waking up with your butt dragging. I don't want either of those things! Haha

Anyways, I was looking into buying some climbing webbing and using the Ring Buckle method that I read about here: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=565

My question is pretty simple. If I were to attach two Descending Rings to the carabiners already attached to my Eno, would that work? Or do I need to take the carabiners off and attach the rings directly to the cord?

Also if there are easier ways to hang my hammock I'm interested in hearing them. The ring buckle method seems pretty easy and I could just tie a bowline knot on the other and attach the webbing the same way I would with normal slap straps.

    Thanks for any info/insight.

I would ditch the carabiners and rope of the warbonnet adjustable webbing suspension. It's only 25 bucks and the install is very easy.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.

Climbing webbing is also nylon. You want polyester webbing, you can get it from various vendors on here. To answer your original question, yes you can clip the rings to your hammock biners and run ther webbing, or other suspension through the biners. If you're at all weight conscious though, get rid of those biners, they're pointlessly heavy. Most people these days are using whoopie slings. Super light and easy to adjust, plus fun to make.

I used the rings method for a couple years and just switched to UCRs, which are kinda like whoopies. The rings work and are really easy, but whoopies are lighter, require less or no hardware, and with the rings there is potential to damage suspension lines if you're not using webbing to run through them.

I'm a big guy and I use whoopies in my DN. No hardware of any kind and made my own tree straps and whoopies for $20 all in. I sleep in it every night and it ALL fits in the bag. Less is more.

If you know anyone who works for the telephone company you can get your hands on mule tape you can hang a bear in the air with that stuff and it won't strech. But I would stick to whoopies now that has gotten me to think mule tape in place of webbing it is lighter and less bulkier I will have to try it.

I appreciate all the responses! Currently weight is not a huge issue for me because I am not using my hammock for camping or backpacking, just lounging on campus and such. And thanks for the heads up on climbing webbing being nylon, I'll keep my eyes out for some poly webbing.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried the Python strap from Kammok? I know it is poly and it claims to have 18 connections points on each strap, which would eliminate some of the tension issues that rise up with Slap Straps.

    Thanks again!

Eno has come out with Atlas Straps that are polyester, and should do the trick if your not changing the rest of your suspension

The Python Straps are great. I love them. For simple ease-of-use, they are hard to beat. The Atlas Straps, which I haven't tested, seem the be on par with the Python version, so either would be fine.

You can see a review I did on the Python straps on BackpackGearTest.org
