    JRB Sniveller Modification

I removed the head/neck hole velcro and closed the hole, no cuts in baffles and took about 2 hours of hand sewing and a lot of sweating about what the heck was I doing. But it can be done and the new seam is not rough and you kind of have to look for it to know it (the seam) is even there.

Just curious, why would you want to "disable" one of the most versatile pieces of gear out there?

After much consideration I decided I probably would never use the TQ as a serape and most of all the velcro seam was scratching me as I slept. The seam woke me up more than once. For me it was the thing to do. But of course if it works for you, keep it. I wanted others to know it could be done (by the less skilled as myself) without ruining the quilt.

Diffidently a case of HYOH .. But on a hike a in spring (APR23rd) .. I got in a snow storm and had temps dip below freezing .. didn't pack a down jacket .. had my JRB Sniveler with a Dri-Ducks poncho .. saved my butt from freezing...

Wonder id JRB would custom swap the velco for some other type of closure to avoid this?

I was thinking maybe a small size zipper but then there would be a problem attaching the hood. The head hole velcro is rather wide and stiff, it is about a1/2 inch wider than the foot box velcro. Maybe some flexible velcro. I know you can get custom sewing at JRB and you can right off order a No Sniviller without the hole. So JRB has that covered.

Must be a case of HOYU. I did consider situations as my butt freezing off, but I have long john for that. And I thought you were supposed to wear the quilt over your shoulders and not over your butt. Darn! hope i don't get caught cold out there. Thanks for the input, seriously. It is a good idea on that quilt.

JRB does not do custom work ... this has been the first I heard of it waking someone up or that's it's intolerable .. I have a 2009 model.. and it's tuff to find it at times...
