    ask the rangers on duty @ Painted Desert about some of the sites. Most of them are very cool and after they figure out you have experience, (not a touron in other words) they are likely to clue you in on some of the best petroglyph sites. I found a near complete ladel and dozens of interesting items about .25 mile off the road. Also, a phytosaur (sp?) tooth and some petrified pinecones which are very rare, i have heard.

    I just got back and it was freakin' great. I will have to post a trip report after I get all these cactus needles pulled out of my legs.

    Woo Hoo, glad to hear it Dutch. That area is truly miraculous. You don't get the full effect until you are actually in it. Anxious to see your report. Better cacti needles than scorpion stingers!
