Welcome to the forum from SC. I pray you have a speedy recovery and get back to the piney woods for some great hang time. I 2d the group hang idea from UncleMJM, you will be able to try gear first hand which is a big help in determining the type hammock that works best for you, and other gear you like best. I will warn you though, group hangs create lots of gear envy.

If you can tolerate the drive by November, head east to our group hang and try out an assortment of gear so that as you add to your kit, you can do so based on what you've seen first hand as well as on line.

All the best to you for a speedy recovery from surgery and a rapid adaptation to new ways to get out into the wild.

Thanks, Uncle Mike. I'll certainly consider that.

    First Hang in New Hammock

Just went to the park to find trees and try out my new Grand Trunk Ultralight and could not be happier with it.

The Ti carabiners and whoopieslings worked great. The Hammock Bliss nylon straps worked well, too. Off to a good start and I appreciate what I've already learned here in just a few days. Again, thanks.
