    DIY Summer Weight Top Quilt

Just completed my Apex 2.5 top quilt, weighing in around 14oz give or take.
I used 1.1 ripstop seconds for the shell and 5 momme habotai silk dyed grey for the lining.
The quilt has loops with snap fasteners around the perimeter and drawcord along the bottom and top for different closure options.
Very happy with the effort and as with everything after the learning curve the next attempt should be better.
I really like the silk but it was hard to work with and any tips on layout and cutting such light fabric would be appreciated. The dying process was not perfect.....a little tie dye effect but I don't mind.
The warmth rating of this hopefully should cover me for most of my fair weather hammocking and any adventure travelling that I might do.
    Appreciate the feedback.
    Thanks.

Nice! How compressible is Apex? How much loft do you have?

I haven't made a stuff sack yet but if I scrunch it up about football size but figuring smaller in a sack.
Not sure on the loft, someone else may have a better idea. Most of what I have read rates Apex 2.5 around 45 degrees.

Looks nice. What is the insulation? Down or synthetic?

Nice looking quilt. You know that it won't stop there. My first quilt was Climashield 2.5. I was a ground dweller back then. You should expect about 0.6 " of loft.

Nice quilt! This is exactly the type of quilt I am leaning towards making. How has the silk worked out for you? Has it been durable? How cold have you taken your quilt down too? I am going back and forth between the 2.5oz, 4oz, and 5oz apex. Thanks!
