In less than a week on this forum, I made my first hammock, my first frankenquilt, my first tarp and bought two more vendor hammocks. This is addicting.
Here's a pic of my sleeping bag conversion. Besides the low hang, which we adjusted once my better half climbed in, everything turned out pretty good. I just cut a hole in the bottom of the bag in the shape of an "X" Then hemmed up the seams. I added some loops and shock cord and all was well. On the sides I added loops but in retrospect, they're really not needed. It doesn't look like it in the pictures but the bag does not fit too tight on the bottom. Especially in the pic with my wife in the bag.(yes she's in there) It's just right. I hadn't orignally intended on zipping the bag but the bag turned out to bigger than I thought it would be and it can be fully zipped without making the bottom too tight. When the bag isnt needed I pull it back and hang it out of the way.
Things I've learned so far....
1. At first I tried to hang the bag/quilt with regular paracord but I quickly ripped one of the loops on the bottom. Shock cord is the way to go. Now I know why everyone uses it.
2. Sewing sucks.
3. This forum is really helpful. I couldn't have done it without all the help from other threads.
4. Whoopie slings are cool and so are Shug's videos for noobs.
Thanks everyone.
