Parking the cars futher apart would have almost certainly take care of your
problem. In the clark manual I think it asks for about 15-19 ft on tree's and
I would think that car's would be the same. I understand that some parking
spots wont allow that but if your in a tight parking spot you might try hanging
the hammock differently like one end at the back of vehicle and the other at front end of vehicle kinda diagonal and as for head/foot height we can all give you our opinions but really it will end up being you finding that sweet spot. But everyone is telling you the right place to start (8-10) inches or so.
if you can experiment at home try doing that try to put up the hammock in the yard and lay in it a while and then take it down and putting it up again until you get a good lay and then what I have said before to some that are having problems with this is take a picture with you cell phone most people have camera's in there cells and most people care them every where they go although they may not make phone call's they still have it but what happens is when you get it hung you can look at picture and see if it looks about the same and then if not make changes and then look at it again. YOU GET THE IDEA.

Edit: Just looked at your gallery. If those pics are of you and your hammock . . . . you've got the foot end WAYYYYY too high. I'd park the cars farther apart next time. Start looking at pictures of other people's Clark hangs, you'll get a good feel for where to start. But from that one picture, it looks like the actual gathered foot end is 18" higher than the head end! EEk.

I find my Clark most comfortable when I get the right balance between sag and pull. Pull it tight and I get a flat bed, which is great for my back but squeezes my shoulders. Let it hang with too much sag and it's horizontally roomy but uncomfortable at the hips and lower back. The sweet spot is comfortable but I'm unable describe how it looks when hung.

Have posted two new pictures from our camporee. The trees were further apart and I had a tighter hang. Slept pretty good until about 3am when I woke with leg cramps.

    Hang looks much better.
Did you try putting something under your knees?

I like my feet abou 3" higher and a fairly tight hang. Squeeze does not bother me and I sleep on my back and side most of the time. On my stomache too for short periods of time.

    Heads up?

    Hello all
I love all the comments and suggestions here. My input would be that I try to make the head slightly LOWER than the feet because I use extra clothes or my empty pack under my head and back.
I often switch positions from head to foot anyway - dont know why - I just do. This way I experience diferent sleeping results for what mood I am in that day. (smile)
    see ya on the trail
