Sierra Sniveler with or without sleeves?

How many of you who regularly use your sniveler quilt as as serape use it without the sleeves and how many always use the sleeves with the serape?

While I WANT a set of the sleeves ohhhhhhhh so badly, I haven't done so yet.

Reason being, I like to carry a puffy jacket as in camp insulation and for "extra" insulation when sleeping (if needed). I hate the thought of the rare but unfortunate incident of snagging my quilt on a branch, too. Also I don't like having to put my quilt on the hammock when I'm ready to climb into bed - call me lazy!

If I'm really trying to go SUL, then I'll use the quilt as a serape and not carry extra insulation - haven't needed the sleeves for most temps on this type of trip - especially w/ a Driducks jacket over the quilt as it does a great job of trapping the heat. If I was going much below freezing, then I'd probably want the sleeves or my wool armwarmers (lighter, not as warm, cheaper).

All that said, the sleeves are freaking cool! I would love them for the times I want added warmth, and they work well for sleep socks, or so I've heard.

My advice is to buy them, decide you don't like 'em, and sell 'em to me for cheap! Please report back on what you decide.

I got a pair of sleeves about 3-4 weeks ago,,and I tell ya,,with a vest,,they are awesome..and multi use,,they fit super great,,I got the longs,,as have 34" long shirts, and you can use them to warm your feet, or legs, or wear period,,with the sniviler and sleeves,,you can't go wrong,,and if even interested,,Jacks also has that nifty hooded down hat to go with all the above..super warm. the sleeves definitely go with me in my tree stand bowhunting.

I don't have them. I use the quilt as insulation under an el cheapo wind jacket if the temps get lower than expected or for those brief minutes in the AM when it may be a bit chilly. If the weather will require me needing a puffy layer I bring a dedicated one and then the quilt can be used to extend the range. I guess that is how I use it, to extend the range of my gear. Like this past weekend, the temp got down to the low-mid 30's and the AM was chillier than I expected, so i made my make-shift puffy jacket with the quilt and windjacket while I got bfast ready.

Sleeves work well with down vest

Tried my new Santa-supplied down sleeves this weekend at 24 degrees. The good news is they work exceedingly well with a down vest, turning it into a full jacket. Of course they work well with my new Sniveller as well, but the Sniveller is large enough the sleeves are almost an afterthought.

Useful for reading in the hammock

Another use for the sleeves that I discovered this weekend: I read (Kindle) after it gets dark and before i am ready for sleep, and when it is really cold out the sleeves really do a great job of preventing my arms from getting cold. You have to hold up your book/e-reader somehow, and while the rest of the body is under the TQ, the arms are unprotected w/o the sleeves.

I've only used the my sierra sni as a serape a few times. The temps were in the teens (Florida) and I was warm w/o sleeves.
The few times I wore my TQ I kept imagining that I would catch it on a branch or burn it cooking.
