    Ripstop floor/sit pad/door mat

Wanted a lightweight something-or-other to sit on, stand on, etc. Tyvek would work, but I didn't have any.

I *did* have some cheap Joann's ripstop on hand, so sewed some hems in a piece about 2 1/2' x 3'.

Works great. Lightweight, packs down to nothing. Not waterproof I suppose, but underneath my tarp it doesn't really need to be. Could be a bit larger, but it's not bad.

Once I went to bed I put it alongside my hammock to stand on when I got in/out.

Pic from last night's S24O bikepacking trip -

I like something under my hammock too. I've been using Tyvek but would like something that doesn't pick up everything like Tyvek does. You've got me thinking...maybe just a piece of DWR from an old tarp and hem it like you have.

Cool! I've been thinking about something like this - kinda a neat freek when I'm outdoors because I'm so allergic to foliage, this keeps everything clean and a safe place to step out and stay clean till you can get your shoes on.
    Kudos!

I have also been using the tyvek and ran into the same problems as L. D. Cakes. Need to get some of the other projects wrapped up so that I can get on this.

Sometimes, I use a piece of polycryo ( the clear stuff you put on windows and shrink with a blow dryer). Picks up nothing and weighs nothing.

Outdoor research 5x7 emergency tarp from walmart for like 6 bucks I think. Works great and comes in a nice little meshy ditty bag I use for shovel and tp

I haven't been able to get out in the field with this, but I have a piece of plastic 'disposable' table cloth that I also want to be able to use as a weather shield for my under quilt.

Sorry- no pics as yet. weights potentially in my profile

(posting in secret- supposed to be writing lesson plans!)

I was thinking of that Outdoor Products Tarp and cutting it in half, then hemming it to make two.

I've been using my poncho for that for about nine months now, on and off for the hangs I go to. Just switched from the GI poncho (which is heavy as sin but bombproof) to a 1.4 sil DIY. We'll see if the sil holds up okay under that abuse...it did last night, but...

For a ground cloth I've often used a simple clear painter's ground cloth. They're about $2 at a hardware store for a 9x12 and I can cut 4 pieces of 9x4 for my tent which will last me at least 4 trips out.
