Recommendations for 2-night Pine Barrens canoe trip

Anybody got recommendations for a two-day Pine Barrens canoe trip?

A couple of friends of mine are coming from CT & MA and want to canoe in the Pine Barrens this weekend, and camp the 24th & 25th. We will have two cars and two canoes, so we can drop canoes off, leave a car at start and beginning.

I'm having a hard time finding a river that could result in a two-day trip. Right now the best I can come up with is this: Atsion to Mullica River Wilderness campsite Friday. Campsite to Pleasant Mills Saturday morning.

I was thinking we'd then canoe the Batsto, maybe camping at Lower Forge Saturday night.

Any other suggestions for a two-night Pine Barrens canoe trip are greatly appreciated. And anyone who wants to join is welcome.

we were out there a few years back and did the base camp thing -- set up camp day 1, did some hiking.
rented canoes, so had the outfitters take us upstream and paddled down on day 2, followed by a short hike and some winery tours.

Hmmm, an invite. I would love to go. I don't have a canoe though, unfortunately. Though I am in the market...

I think your problem is short rivers. When I was going regularly we day tripped and camped at the park there or moteled it. As I recall the Mullica was the only one with a designated camp site where you could legally put in and do an overnight. OTOH those little rivers are narrow and twisty enough that a couple of hours gives your paddling skills a good workout. ;-)

Actually, I was looking for two nights of camping, both Friday and Saturday nights. Has anyone done the Upper Mullica River? Is it going to be too shallow this time of year?

I was going to drop the canoes in at Jackson Rd (county road 534). It looks like about four miles of river to get to Goshen Pond primitive camp. Next morning paddle to Mullica River campsite. Sunday continue to either Pleasant Mills or Crowley Landing for pull-out.

There may be. In fact, if my son doesn't go, I'll need someone to help with portages around deadfall, etc. I think my son is all camped/canoed out - we just got back last night from four days of kayak/canoeing in the Adirondacks. My shoulders are sore! I should be able to let you know today after talking to the family.

This trip is still iffy - the guys I'm going with are up in the Adirondacks out of reach of cell service. I won't be able to talk to them until Thursday to firm up plans. They get to canoe and camp in the Adirondacks while I plan the itinerary - it's not fair.

I'm pretty sure we'll canoe/camp at least one night because they bought a canoe they have to pick up in the Pine Barrens. If I drove all the way from Boston, I'd at least get the canoe wet while I was in the Pine Barrens, so there's a high likelihood of it occurring.

micks would know water level http://www.mickscanoerental.com/camp.html

If water is low you could us Buttonwood (at Crowley's Landing) for second night.

could do Wading = Speedwell to Godfrey's Bridge to Buttonwood then south on Mulica till a bridge ?
