    Sounds like how I smell after a few days on the trail without a shower. The odor has woken me up more than a few times. I always find a bit of water first thing the next morning to wipe down in.

    Probably a bear. They have a very particular smell that is just butt nasty. I've smelled it many times and I keep my eyes open. If I smell it near my camp I build a small fire. Ugg, fire, large stick, ugg. Keep large fuz ting away. Ugg.

    Yes, very distinctive and vomit inducing! And if I smell it, I tend to make sure my bear spray is even more ready than normal - nothing attracts bears like a free meal and I don't want to be dessert. (And if I am, I'm going to be a really spicy one with all the pepper spray I'll unload first.)
