    Long-term Quilt Storage

Unfortunately I don't have the space to leave my quilts out flat or hanging in a gear room, so I've searched the forum and seen a few people using large cotton laundry bags. I've ordered a couple but I'm still a little worried that these will cause long term damage to the down. My quilts are currently stuffed into large pillow cases as a test run and they don't seem to be overly compressed.

Can anyone offer advice? Will they be ok in the laundry bags.

    Thanks

I use the large mesh laundry bags when I can't hang them. I take them out and fluff every few weeks. Don't think there has been any damage to the down that I can tell. The mesh bags allows air to circulate a bit better than the cotton bags.

Laundry bags will do great. They don't have to be completely out in the open, just not scrunched up in a stuff sack 24/7.

I gave a down sleeping bag to one of my grandkids last month,,that was in mint shape,,about 20 yrs old,,and had it stored in a pillow case. Down is very durable. And I sometimes hang them as well, as I have the room to do so. Main thing is,,in the pillow case,,I never store anything on top them other than other down UQ or TQ.
