BBO topcover or canvas hammock sock

I am tring to deside weather to get a BBO top cover and use my WBBB hammock as a 4 season hammock or just buy a WB traveler or similar and get a MMG canvas hammock sock. the BBO would be the cheaper option. Even cheaper if i could get one used. and it would give me a modular WBBB where i could add the BBO if i need it. just like my two under quilts i can adde both for winter camping.

I am looking for thoughs on the BBO. does condensation built up on it. and would shug`s breath bib help that. any comments on the BBO would be great, I love my WBBB hammock. i think that getting the BBO would be a good option for me to use for winter camping.

I've never had any condensation in my BBO. I use it when the temps are in the 20's.

The BBO is a great topcover - I should know, I designed it!

In winter camping temperatures, I can say with certainty that the breath bid/frost catcher suspended from a ridgeline definitely works. On my 2 Algonquin winter trips, I used my microfiber pack towel suspended from my ridgeline and positioned in under my chin and it caught a fair amount of moisture during the night.

I think the condensation factor depends greatly on the temperature and how much difference there is between the inside of your hammock and the outside. The greater the difference the more condensation you're likely to encounter.

Molly Mac Gear is the only one currently making canvas hammock socks.

From my understanding, the BBO and a MMG canvas sock are completely different animals meant for different conditions.

The BBO can be used in any temperature to trap some warmth and resist a breeze on the top of the hammock. It weighs next to nothing.

The MMG canvas sock is used only well below freezing to create a micro climate and wind protection around the entire hammock/UQ system. I would think weight and bulk would be a problem for backpacking...get a pulk.

I really like my BBO in the deep cold. It has worked wonders and I have not had any condensation issues.

Had my bbo on in temps down to 19-21 deg. It worked great added almost 10 deg. Inside I would say in conjunction with j&a poncho liner for the bottom

I assume you guys are talking Fahrenheit? I have a bbo now and full length under quilt (20 deg) and I am working on a pluq as well and will be using a -20 deg celsius sleeping bag as tq. I have am an bmj with doors. Can't wait to do some testing with my new cold weather setup.
