Never Lose Your Hammock In The Dark Again

so i found a nifty little way to never lose your hammock if you happen to wander away from it at night......or atleast if your within a quarter mile you'll still be able to find it

i took a small flashing led that came on a set of beads that was a handout from a beer company and cut everything off except the LED part and where a small split ring was attached

couldn't find the exact one i used, but it is something like this

    http://www.glowing-gifts.com/N-005fl...gnecklace.html

anybody that has been to a bar on a drinking holiday (ie: st pattys day) has seen what i'm talking about

anyways there is just a small push button on the back to turn it on and off, and in the dark you can see that sucker from ALONG ways away, just attach it to the ridgeline using the split ring outside your tarp and click it on if you have to go aways away and you'll have no trouble finding your way back

if you are in a group setting this thing is bright enough that it could be annoying, but altleast you won't get lost

Great idea! I have been using a Nite Ize product, that gas a biner on it and hangs from the CRL. It kinda glows for a reading light or will blink. Yours is lighter I think.

I bought a couple little Tritium Betalights for the same reason. They're suprisingly bright, and supposedly last about 10-20yrs (if you don't lose them first ) I found them most helpful for locating zipper pulls in the dark. They are actually bright enough to read by once your eyes are dilated (probably not good for your eyes, though).

    I was wondering . . .

. . . what if you wandered away in the twilight,
and were gone a little longer that you thought,
    and then couldn't find your Hammock . . .
. . . and it was now dark and you hadn't turned the little light thingy on . . .

    . . . could you some how wire in a clapper to it ? ? ?

    You know from a distance . . .

    CLAP ON . . . CLAP OFF

    Let me finish

. . . 7 and a half years later, when I went back at night . . . and there they were still shining bright as ever.

Yes, I learned the hard way to put a small LED light on my hammock back in 2003, I think. I not only couldn't find my hammock, when I finally found it, it turned out to be my female hiking buddy's hammock who wasn't too please when I tried to get in via the bottom entry of a Hennessy and showed up between her legs!
