I do what Brandon described, Honestly, I find it to be alittle bit of a pain, and the reason im considering the big pig bishop bag. Just so i can leave the SD on along with my UQ.

I would agree that it was a “pain” with the stock suspension configuration. But with the quick switch to the Beetle Buckles, it has truly been transformed. This makes the addition of the Spindrift quick and easy...although yes, Warbonnet’s Big Pig stuff sack would keep it all together too. For me, I dreaded the Spindrift installation and removal, just due to the suspension haggle.
Maybe i misunderstood, i thought the question was attaching the underquilt with the spindrift already in place. This is what i was referring to as a pain.
Not at all misunderstood Campnfish, I was just adding my thoughts on the suspension side of things. The thread started with various thoughts and little “pains” that can be experienced with the Ridgerunner / Spindrift.
The Terminator uses a Lynx FL UQ that is made for the RR. I always get the job of putting on her UQ and I find it very easy to do even with the Spindrift sock. She has the older model sock with the poles on the inside and the two doors.what's the experience of attaching your UQ like?
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Thanks y’all.
The UQ attachment is my biggest unknown. If the SD is on, it’s no doubt cold outside. Which means your UQ fit also needs to be dialed in. My bit of neurotic behavior says operating the UQ inside the SD will be difficult, (low visibility, hard to verify right fit) but as y’all say, it is what it is, and isn’t too gnarly overall.
I get my SD on Monday and anticipate the quarks of making it my own.

This was my solution. I added zippers between the holes the suspension comes out of. allows me to use it as a real sock and gives me way better access to it when on. In fact. I just leave it on now all winter. If I don't need it, I just leave it in the bishop bag hanging on my suspension. If it gets cold enough, I just pull it out and over-zip-done.
Great idea!
I was able to kinda do that as stock, but yeah, still gotta thread the dog bones at one end. That, and then to slide the spindrift to one end means passing the hammock through one of the doors. Your mod makes total sense and offers great flexibility.
Having messed with things so far, I’ve found what Brandon says to be fairly true. Leaving the sock on and attaching UQ ‘inside’ the spindrift with spreader bars out isn’t too bad. The lynx would make this even easier.
Still really dig your mod. Definitely something to consider. Thanks for sharing!
