Underground Quilts and Gear B.A.T. - tarp

    Greetings

Recently I needed a much bigger tarp for my Martian bridge hammock, as my existing Ogee tarp wasn't quite big enough. It fit but just barely. I also wanted one with more coverage as most of the camping that I do is from Fall through to Spring and it almost always rains on my trips.

After inquiring around, I came to find out that Paul at UGQ and Gear was going to be making tarps along with his quilt offerings. I contacted Paul about what I wanted and he gave me a good price so I ordered.

It's a 12'x10'6" (a hair under in the width department). I've named it the B.A.T. (Big *** Tarp). I had 3 tie out points along each long edge, a pair on the mid point of each short edge (A frame pitch) and I also had another pair added part way down the same short edge so I could pitch it in a Baker's hut configuration.

The tarp is well constructed and came seam sealed. I used it on my recent trip to Bon Echo Provinical park. With no rain in the forecast, I pitched it high and wide to allow for any breeze to come through. One side is in Porch Mode. My bridge hammock spreader bars easily clear the tarp on either side.

Here are some pictures of it

I also heard that Paul has made a 12' Winter Dream Tarp that is even bigger than my B.A.T.

    Cheers

    Brian

I was debating either Winter Dream or this one for my son.
So far he has a Hennessey Exp. Zip and a Zeppelin 20* from UGQ. Or will have Christmas day.
The Hennessy came with a little tarp he can use in summer but, it looks like he will be doing some winter camping with Scouts. So I will be getting him a winter tarp in Jan if his dad doesn't get it for Christmas.

Would it be worth the extra $ for the doors?
