    Learning the hard way

This afternoon I picked up a diy tablecloth hammock, a pillow, and a book and headed out side to rest and read for a while before the rain set in. I laid the book and pillow down, hooked up my hammock to my turtle-dog stand, turned around, griped the hammock with both hands and sat down gently, picked up my feet, then the world fell in on me.
I hit the ground, the top rail hit me across the head and bloodied my nose, near knocking me out. All seems OK now but for a bump and a sore head.
What happened, I failed to even check the position of the tripods, and the one on my left had been bumped and was tilted inward enough that when I loaded it, it flipped and came down hard. Good news is no damage to stand.
I now have a plan of action, before putting my rear end in any hammock, I will look carefully at the suspension including tripod or tree.

Glad you're alright and was able to fix the stand. Mishaps seem to be a right of passage for hammockers. Also don't forget to make sure the hammock is pulled open. Last week I put up the bug net and went to sit in what I thought was an open hammock, had a small pillow in it, and wound up on my butt looking up through the bug net. Good times

Glad you're OK. Makes me want to check my fulltimer before climbing in tonight, haven't checked it in awhile.

"Good news is no damage to stand"

Let's review, lump on head, bloodied nose, almost knocked out, and the good news is no damage to stand? Yep, you're a hammocker!

    Caught that as well

Reminds me of the time I took my turtlelady stand out for a little shut-eye. I had the base narrower than I should have because I was trying to squeeze some extra height out of it--got in and... everything went fine. That is until my youngest daughter ran over and gave me a mammoth shove to "rock me to sleep." Did I ever get rocked--now I know how a felled tree feels.

Glad to hear that you, stand, and hammock (in that order) are all doing well--at least well enough to post the experience.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

I am glad you are alright. That sort of thing makes a person paranoid about checking their setup....which might not be a bad thing.
