    Tech Line vs. Lash-it

The question seems to have been asked several times but the answer seems to wander off. What is the difference in Tech line as opposed to lash-it of zing-it. I ran out of zing-it and ordered some Tech line from AHE and it seems to be the same or very close. Am I correct? If not, which do you prefer? I have used a spool of both 2.2 and 1.75 zing-it and lash-it that was purchased from Redden. I love this stuff, and it seems to everywhere around here.

    Thanks

I use both 1.75mm Zing-it and 1.2mm tech line from DIYGearSupply. Other than one being thinner, obviously, the Zing-it has a slicker coating on it.

The Tech line I used from AHE seemed the same as a scrap or two of lash-it I had laying around. Are you saying they are different cordage? If so, do you know where one might buy a spool?

Do you mean Utility Line from AHE? I don't see tech line listed there.

The DIY Gear Supply Tech Line is definitely not the same as Lash-It or Zing-It.

Yes, I guess it is utility line. I have purchased 1.75 from AHE. Having said that, is it lash-it? The 1.9 from diy is what? And again, if either are not zing-it of lash-it what is "it" and where would you buy a spool?

Yes, it appears to be. The gray looks exactly like Lash-It, and the yellow like Zing-It. Color is the difference between them. If you want a full spool, you can buy it from either Amazon or Redden Marine, or several other online stores.

I don't know of any other source for the Tech Line that DIY Gear Supply sells (in either 1.2 or 1.9mm sizes). If there's a common trade name for it, no mention has been made.

Go to a full stock arborist supply house, eg sherrill, treestuff, blueridge, wesspur, and look at "throw lines", from 'spensive to cheap. There's the origin and much of what is used here. PM me for thinner, lighter, cheap, hollow core black waxed 80lb bs polyester / dacron.

Strength of much of what folks are using --400lb bs -- is way in excess of necessary for tarp lines. But, it sure is tough.
