    Hello from SoCal

Hello everyone, I'm Gene, I dwell in Fullerton CA, (Veteran) US Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, F/T student, P/T worker, bound to become a Physicians Assistant with an undergrad in Health Science, ultimately obtain a Masters of Physicians Assistant Studies.
My first hammock(s) were hand made from the Philippines, which I purchased on my last and final deployment in the South Pacific. Actually I traded my Gerber multi-tool for them, lol. These held up nicely throughout my deployment, I still have them to this day.
My first "advanced" hammock that I just picked up recently at REI is the HH UL BP A:Z. I exchanged a gift and paid the difference. Thermarest NeoAir (1st Gen) and ~ $70 difference Not bad for a piece that diddnt come with snakeskins, or webbing! REI's price is the same as HH online. But oh well...
Since then I've made my own Whoopies (7/64 amsteel) and dabbled with the suspension, as well as configuring a more expedient method of employing both the rain fly and hammock separately more efficiently.
For the rainfly, I made a hole at the bottom of the original stuff sack which houses the ridgeline attached to the rainfly making it one unit. I have one end of the ridgeline threaded through the hole I made, while the rest is stuffed and wrapped inside.
And for the hammock, I'm using a Big Agnes Pump House with one whoopie sling threaded through the "nozzle end" of the pump house while the rest is coiled inside. Same hypothesis with the rainfly.
I havent timed myself, but this system works for me. I prefer to string up the rainfly first, then the hammock. Or sometimes just the hammock. It depends on what Mother Nature can provide.
As for the suspension, I would want to either go up to 1/8 amsteel, or just go with dynaglide. So far I don't have a problem with the 7/64 amsteel other than the mild effort to loosen the bury from time to time (it gets pretty tight)
Well that's enough about me and my hammock tangent.. Nice to be here, and I hope to gain some useful knowledge along the way.
    Thanks for your kind consideration.
    Very Respectfully,
    Gene
