I first bumped into his videos while searching info on the Linville Gorge, at first, I thought he was abit corny and over the top with all this woo-buddy stuff. Somewhere along the way I started drinking the Shug-gery Kool Aid like the rest of you!

Man, I definitely would like to meet him one day. Woo- Buddy!

I'd like to see Shug put together a how to video on how to make watchable youtube videos.

One of the things he does that I notices makes it much more watchable, is he talks to the camera, like it's a person, in this case, like it's me.

The various voices keeps it fresh and changing.

    He constantly changes perspective.

He takes a break from the conversation, and does something to distract us and thus catering to our ever shortening attention spa... oh look something shiny.

I have made a video or two myself. Very few of them feature me as a speaker. Watching the way Shug does that, has helped me think about how I can better present myself on video.

    Thanks again Shug.
Thanks.... a lot!!!! I appreciate that for sure. Looking into the camera lens is very important to "connect" with watchers. When I watch videos with the on-camera person looking at the video screen and not the lens.....I always find myself shifting to the left to get into their line of sight. Feel like they are speaking to someone over my shoulder

Ok Shug, less posting, and more video making. I've just about finished watching the ones on your Youtube channel, and want to see some more.

I've been watching the trip reports to get me by until today, because I am off for the piney woods (and swamps) for an overnight hike.

Last day at MN State Fair......then a couple more weeks of touring.
Then..... a trip to the woods by myself to quiet down and re-charge.
So no videos until late september. do have some planned though.

Have you ever noticed... no matter where Shug is, it's always Sector Seven...
Thats why I claimed where I live as Sector 13 so Shug can't steal it

Shug would make a great Ernest T.

He might be a clown but he ain't no fool
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Not only am I a hammocker (hammockee? hammockite?) because of Shug, but when I saw his videos I had to PM him via youtube because I too am a mandolin player and a juggler.

Shug, my parents gave me half of an amulet when I was very young. You don't happen to have the other half do you?

So now I'm a hammocker who's moving towards ultra light backpacking (alcohol stoves, Fosters can pots, hammocks and tarps) and I'm even considering snow shoeing this winter.

So Shug, we're having a jam at my house next weekend. Wanna come to the Sierra mountains and jam?

By the way, my grand daughter now knows that when I say "All secure? " she says "In Sector Seven."

I love Shug's vids because of his affinity for the wild, both indoors and out.

Shug- I saw your vid when you made your Mother's shortbread. I was sucked in by that too, mate. I just lost my Grandmother, who was the woman who taught me my kitchen know how. I'm going to make that shortbread!

What I'm saying is, it's your realness that connects with people! Noobs suck in all the info you provide, but it's not labored or boring. You're a good teacher.

    Now go make a video.

    Thanks.
