    It's going forward

    The project is going forward.

It seems that it can be possible that they can start delivering Hammocks at january 2013, which I did not believe in in the first place. They have been a quite busy obviously.

That is great news. I've been hoping they were still moving forward. I'm very excited about this.

My concern would be a longer stay in it for wet weather. At least with a tarp you are able to move around a little, cook under it, read...etc. with this you are more in a body bag. Maybe I am just understanding the application for it.

Good point. A tarp over the top of this would solve that problem, but then you're kind of defeating the purpose....

It looks and sounds a lot like the Lawson Blue Ridge.

That's one of my points. I understand the dual role of bivy bag. But that's all
The advantage I see. You can easily get under the two pounds with tarp and hammock, and you have more flexibility with a tarp and hammock. Now don't get me wrong. I am all for ingenuity and creation of new products. I hope he succeeds. Just looking for understanding.

It is simple, at least for me. No need to put up tarp. At least in here Finland it does not rain days and days, it just rains for example 8 hours. Then there is 2 hours break and 6 hours rain. And if I'm hiking for example one week, there usually is rain only about few days or nights, and it is possible to do without tarp.

I may even take the tarp with me, for cooking under it, but then go to sleep in Alpine hammock away from the tarp if it does not rain. And if it rains during night I just close the weather cover.

And of course for one day (one night) tripping there really is no need for tarp anymore. Only three items at summer: small EVA pad, down TQ and the Alpine hammock. I can keep those almost always with me and camp anywhere I need to - and have a good night sleep. (In Finland we have trees everywhere, and lots of space, and all land is "common land" except direct surroundings around houses)

So there You have it - Simplicity is the point - at least for me.

Well it sounds like it would work for you. I hope you will be able to enjoy it. For me though I still bring a tarp string it up and keep it in the mesh python ready to deploy if necessary, and still be able to enjoy the stars.
