    Thumbs up Nice!

I knew there is market for rainproof hammocks!

Now there is a second one, but not for stormy rain says manufacturer.

And I do use pad directly under me, so there You go. I can say it is easier to use pad without DL hammock. Look, I said it again. It is not so tough to deny benefits of the second layer.

There is no benefit in hammock having second layer for pad user, if you are a still sleeper I could add. And there is an extra hassle to put pad between layers directly to the right spot. And if pad moves during night it is harder to straighten it again without getting up from the hammock. So there! I did it again!

DD version seems to have a non breathable rain cover, so it could be bit more clammy than The Alpine hammock. But who knows... We will see.

    Anyway

So that would make the new hammock a single layered version of the DD hammock that uses GoreTex instead of waterproof fabric.
Have you tried a double layered hammock? I've never had a pad move once I got in a DL hammock. The second layer tends to hold it in place. So there really would be no need to get up to adjust or straighten out a pad that has already been anchored by the weight of the occupant on the two layers. Conversely, I have seen a number of pads fall out of a hammock when the occupant gets up, but never saw that in a DL hammock.

All my hammocks (4) are DL, that is why I'm so bitter.

All that excess material in vain. I should cut it away, but I'm not really a DIY man.

And I bought them DL because of that stupid myth that in pad use (and because of mosquitos) it is mandatory to have a DL hammock.

This is why I don't think I'll ever get down to ultra light. I don't want a full body pummeling ever time it rains / snows / sleets. But if they can make a fully waterproof bag that you don't suffocate in, then good on them.

    Talking Closer and Closer!

    I got this email yesterday.

    Hey Alpine Hammock Supporters!

Most of our materials have arrived at our manufacturing facility in North Carolina. That means we're a few weeks away from shipping the first batch of Alpine Hammocks. Many of you have emailed us with address changes over the past year. If you have changed your address since August 2012 or if you plan to move between now and October 2013 please send us your new address. We would hate to send your long-awaited Alpine Hammock to an old address.

Moral of the story: Send us your new address info if you've moved since August 2012!

    Happy Trails,

    Mike and Ryan

I bet Dutch gets his sooner, long way to here Finland and then there is the customs delay. And I have not got the shipping notice yet... maybe from the second batch.

    They did post the video.

    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

I did embed it here by using Youtube. Hammockforums does not have the codebase for embedding FB videos directly. And not everyone is in FB.

There seems to be water coming from the roof as simulating a normal rain and of course extra water from the hose which the guy uses. Or is it only the hose?

October 24 I read this from the Facebook.

Great news, 25 out our 72 @Kickstarter Alpine Hammocks have been shipped! Thanks to all our backers for their patience and support!
Last week I got this message from the Alpine Hammock team.

    Hey There!

We're almost done fulfilling our domestic (USA) Alpine Hammock shipments which means we're about ready to start shipping internationally. If you need special information for getting the package through customs please let us know asap so that we can take care of it before we start shipping. We may start shipping as soon as next week. We'll send you an email with tracking information when your hammock ships so you'll know when to expect it.
Someone has already got his/hers Alpine Hammock.

So My fellow hammockers I ask: Where are the reviews?
