We'll have to call the polypro/nylon composite tree hugger I sent you a Hogg Tye.

I use seatbelt type webbing that's about 3/4 inches wide. no tree damage noticed so far but I'm only 140 lbs.

Very interesting.....I have been thinking of switching to 1inch wide and 3foot long straps in poly....for my HH.....the factory straps are 2inch wide and 3.5foot long straps.....weight savings are my motivation...but how wide of a loop do I need 1 to 2 inch?

I always make it too short... you should use 6 inches of box stitching, if you want to be sure!

    Arrow webbing eyes

The length of the eye depends on the width of the opening under load; the wider the opening, the longer the eye. I don't recall the source, but the ratio I use is 3:1 (length:width) or a maximum angle 26°.

Box stitching and bar tacking are popular but they are not optimal. Longitudinal stitching is strongest, as described and tested in Nylon Highway No. 3 (p11), and as is often used on industrial slings.

That's right, and a box stitch has none. My safety equipment has a box stitch over a whole lot of longitudinal stitches.

Is anyone else using 3/4" width?

I use 1 to 1.5 inches width just to feel better about using a tree with soft bark. Here is a related thread on the subject.
