Any good places to hang in San Diego?

Welcome from Utah! I miss living in Upland CA.
Big bear and Julian areas are the best in the SD area...unless you make yourself a stand. Then you would be able to hang anywhere. On second thought, the La Jolla area should be a good spot if there is a campground...Never made it to that part of SD longer than to drive through. I was stationed there for three year and only did the big bear thing a few times. Now that i have a portable stand, i would hang all over the place there. There are a lot of hangers from the SD area, John Sawyer is from LA area i think, but he is one of the more experienced guys on that side of the continent.
Anyways, Welcome to the forums from Guam!

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Hey, I'm from sd too! Haven't been camping with my hammock yet, but some fun places for "public" afternoon hangs:
Balboa Park near the public pool and tennis courts, there are two trees kind of isolated off near the road that runs to the parking lot. Some interesting people have sca battles on Sundays I think, fun to hang, nap and watch.
Mission bay, along the bay is a small grove of stubby palms near the jogging path. Great seaside afternoon hang. Be careful about which ones you choose, especially of you're a heavyweight; they are pretty small trees!
Olive grove park in clairemont mesa has several suitable trees, public playground and basketball courts and a baseball field. Lots of community activities, barbecues, etc.
