Thanks guys. I am actually very pleased with my repair. I did thin the silicone when I seam sealed this tarp and it worked just great.
This tarp is being loaned to a buddy of mine all next week. We will be with 3 other friends on a 7 day AT trek. I will have HG cuben. Looks like we could have temps down in the 20s our first night out! Whoo Buddy! Now that's hanging.

on a side note...
I work for an asphalt company and our asphalt plants run hot rock through metal chutes. The metal wears down over time causing holes. For a quick patch, they will put 100% silicone on a square piece of cardboard and place over hole on metal. Believe it or not... this patch will outlast the metal around it.

Wow, that is hard to believe! I believe you though...You would think the hot rocks would tear the cardboard or melt the silicone somehow. I guess it would depend on the size of the hole and where it's placement is?Originally Posted by chickenwing

I repaired a parachute nylon hammock with Tear-Aid recently with great results. I've been napping in that hammock for a couple weeks now and the patches aren't moving at all. Every now and again I pick at the edges with my fingernail just to test but so far they aren't moving.
