we didn't see any stretch even after Neutron and Poof sat it in a bit...that's 310 pounds applied. Still wouldn't recommend letting a noob get in it and bounce or swing.

I'd be happy to test a single layer M55 hammock for as many nights as I could. I'm looking for some now too. Way to go, Neutron.

Single layer? Neutron is working on it....hoping to find m55 (I think its momentum 50 with the ripstop grid)...if any body knows where it can be found let Neutron know.
Interesting. I thought about replying but after a good sleep I still wonder. If you watch the video where you are in the hammock and it forms that shelf under your arm the material is doing something as it deforms around you. Something interesting is going on. ;-)

i saw the momentum 50, but searched for 55 to no avail. i found the 90 with the 50 at thru-hiker.
what do you think the weight limit would be for 50 and 90 in a single hammock?
It's not procrastinating, its proactively delaying the implementation of the energy-intensive phase of the project until the enthusiasm factor is at its maximum effectiveness.

I think the M90 should do well up to about 200-210.

Our almost static weight on the M50 double tested 310 no visible problems. My gut impression would be that a single M50 should hold about 150 safely, Probably 175 safely as well. At least I will try it with my weight.

As with everything, what safety margin is desired? I know engineers like at least a margin of two or three. Corporations probably like that as well. Realistically, it is a balance of weight, comfort, and safety. If the M50 single turns out to be as comfortable as the double, I would use it all the time. If I had plenty of funds or making hammocks professionally, I would test single and double M50's and M90's hammock until failure. That would at least give a static failure rate on which to help with our educated gut opinions.
