    Summer weight UQ

I'm looking at a summerweight UQ to use with my HH. I am comparing Wilderness Logics SSUQ and the Te-Wa Breeze. They are the same price, weight, etc. Any reason I should pick one over the other?

    jw261,
For summer, I use a AHE Jarbridge River summer quilt (3.0 Climashield vs std 6.0). This has been my go to quilt summer for 2 years now. Paul rates this to 50°, but I have taken it down to 42° with no colds spots. At 13 oz, it does weigh a little more than those you listed, but at $100, it is less expensive. Also, it is more of a ⅞ length, than a full or ¾ UQ, which again, for the shoulder season or warmer, is nice.

I do like the synthetic for our hot and humid conditions. I also have a winter down quilt that I love just as much, for the colder nights, but for the summer, my Jarbridge River is where it is at!

I considered the Jarbridge but was wanting something that packed a little smaller. Also gave some thought to the HHSS or making a PLUQ, but bothseemed too bulky for my taste too.

I use a custom Hammock Gear Summer Phoenix. Rated to 40 total weight in stuff sack is 8.2oz. Super light and toasty warm.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

The summer Jarbride River packs pretty small; smaller than I would have though it would. Her it is with some other items to compare. The JBR is the in the green camo bag on the left. It is loosly packed and could be compressed to about ½ to ⅔ this size.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah, that helps alot. I might go that route. I'm waiting to see if they go on sale for $80 again and I will probably pull the pin on the JBR. That's considerably cheaper than my other options. Appreciate it Skipper!

No worries. I expect they may go on sale, but probably next August during AHE's 4th anniversery sale. They were $130 when I bought them, so you could always look a the $100 price tag as being 25% off.

Even at the price I paid, I am very happy with this UQ. Using it again this weekend. When I go on the AT at the end of the month, I will likely take my winter down quilt, as I run the risk of encountering temps below my 42° thresshold.

Good luck with your choice. Don't know where you are, but there is the possibility of us running into one another and I could show off the quilts I have.

No baffles and it does not need them. The Jarbidge and the rest of the KAQ line are synthetic.

Ditto, I have 1 1Season and 2 3Season Jarbridges, they are great UQs for the $$. I use them with my BB but have also used them with ENOs and Grand Trunks. While they do not pack down as much as down they come close and for the price they are a great deal.

I bet Paul has them on sale at least once between now and Christmas.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
