Space Weaseal and I are going to hike the LSHT the weekend of 10/20. Plan is for an A to B to C and back to A hike. Hike it in on our back, camp, hike again, camp, hike out.
We will be in the same general area where the Butt Bake was held, but there won't be any car camping or base camp aspects to this.

CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE AND ARE IN ALL CAPS
Tentative plan is to arrive Friday 10/19, park at PARKING LOT #1, then hike APPROX 1/2 miles DOWN THE LITTLE LAKE CREEK TRAIL to A CLEARING THAT CAVEMAN HAS LOCATED. Supper and breakfast at camp, then south along the MAIN LSHT TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH THE POLE CREEK TRAIL, THEN HEAD SOUTH AND LOOP AROUND IT BACK NORTH. Destination will be one of several campsites Spaceweaseal and I scouted during the Butt Bake in the vicinity of where the Pole Creek Trail intersects FS Road 211A. Total first day mileage is +/- 16.44 miles, not a grind, but not lazy either. Should give us time for a big breakfast and good supper with some daylight before sleeping. I'll bake biscuits Saturday morning.
The map shows two ponds on the trail, and one near the campsite. We know there is good dependable water at that last pond. It may be possible to cache water near the destination as the Forest Service supposedly opens those roads in September. We can definitely cache water at the road just south of FS211A as that is open year round, or where the trail crosses FM1097. All of these cache sites are near the destination.
Pics of the pond near the destination and FS211A can be seen here.
Hike out IS EITHER 3.5 MILES BACK ON THE MAIN TRAIL VIA THE WEST FORK TRAIL OR 3.05 MILES ON THE LITTLE LAKE LOOP TRAIL.
