Thanks! It really is pretty out there when you're not baking in the summer sunshine. And the company on this trip was definitely top notch. I had a great time, even if it was a short one.

I can believe it. We were moving a little slower; lilricky has a bum knee right now, so--since I was in the point position on the way to the cars--I tried to keep my pace down to something that wouldn't be painful for him. I'm not sure I was successful, though. Sorry.

    Thanks Wildman ...

FLRider sums it all up pretty good .. it was only about 3.5 miles hike one way .. we did a little trail maintenance on the way out as well .. FLRider had a great set-up .. I tested a UL set-up using 2.2 for suspension .. I stayed above ground ..

LiLRicky turned me on to a WBBB .. I've been sleeping in it since Sunday night .. I fully understand the appeal .. what a great hammock .. LiLRicky ... reciprocation is well in order ..

ZukiGuy .. Thanks for the invite .. the ride .. but mostly .. Thank-You for serving our country .. it's a true honor to hike/hang with those that do .. I bet you thought I was gonna say for being the sacrificial lamb huh ??

    Thanks, Black Wolf!

I'm honestly surprised that that tiny piece of clothesline held you all night; I was half expecting to hear a thud followed by cursing at 3 AM... Glad that didn't happen, though.

I'd be glad to hike with any of you fine gents any time. I had a great time, and you're all wonderful guys to spend the weekend with!

    Thanks!

Well, I guess I'll just have to hand over my Confirmed Misanthrope card to the local authorities...durnit... And here I thought the poor personal hygiene, general orneriness, and skull-fracturingly bad fashion sense would be enough to keep folks away......

I look forward to seeing you come January, when the hot weather never shows. Bring the downy goodness!

    Thanks!

It actually wasn't too bad, but for the 11 AM to 4 PM period: I doubt it was much above 80 the rest of the day, and the humidity was pretty low. I gotta say, if you're going to camp down here during anything but December to February, an hammock is the way to go. That CBS that everyone has problems with? A definite plus most of the year.

Nice trip report, FLRider. I do wish there were more pictures, but I believe you presented the trip in a good light. Thanks.

I'm interested in the suspension cord you used. I also have some potential dates for the FHT here in SC for Oct. if you're still interested.

    And I agree, thanks, ZukiGuy.

*sniff* I'm glad you finally found someone to go with you (I'm kidding )

It sounds like a great hang! But then again... almost any hang is a great hang but it is always good to meet up with old and new friends to hang with. I have always said (for the 11 years that I have worked for the FL Forest Service) that "a bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work"... I'm lucky enough to have both sometimes
