Triple Fisherman's Knot

I have a HHULE and I keep running into the issue of only having larger in diameter trees to hang from. I always want to double wrap my rope to insure that I won't slip. The problem is that sometimes I don't have enough rope to make a double wrap. So I want to add to the length of my rope by doing a Triple Fisherman's Knot: (double is pictured,just wrap it a 3rd time)

Has anyone tried this knot for hanging? Is it stable? It seems like it would work. I just don't want to wake up with the wind knocked out of me

That is a stopper knot. Once it is sinched down tight it's extremely hard to get undone.

That's what I'm looking for. I want to extend my 10' rope to 15' - 20' to guarentee a doublewrap. Do you think this knot would do the trick?

I used to climb some years ago.
And when you made your own slings from webbing, you used that knot.
I trusted that knot with my life

I climb regularly and use the double and triple fisherman's for literally life-or-death situations. It's plenty strong.

As others have noted, though, it can be a pain to untie, although not as bad if it's well dressed.

An alternative, which will also be plenty strong, but easier to untie, is a figure 8 bend.

The figure 8 is an excellent knot. You can always place a small appropriately sized stick inside any knot as you tie it. Once it is loaded it'll cinch down on it, but the stick can be forced out of the knot, thereby loosening the knot enough to break it apart.

I use the double version of that knot when I formed the loops that make up the hammock lines for my SLS. I have hung from this setup several times and there is not the slightest amount of slippage.

the fishermans is a good permanent knot, to join 2 lines so they can be untied, try the slipped sheetbend or slipped double sheetbend.

why are you wrapping the tree with your line? why don't you larks head the tree with a tree strap and tie to that?
