Learning tons of stuff here on these forums - I'm going to have to give the hitchcraft's a try - inexpensive enough. I'm using a handfull of Figure 9's for the tarp, and they work great - having the same ease of adjustability for the main tie would make for an awesome setup.

The way the drip rings are designed, I dont see any harm in taking multiple wraps around them - I figure if the main tie's can hold up to years of bolins tied into them, they can handle being wrapped around a drip ring no problem.

Are you using the small Figure 9's for the tarp?

Yes - the small figure 9's are plenty for the 1/8" tarp cord. Actually, I also have several of the large ones too for kayak tiedown, but they are too big to use with small cord - the teeth in the jam side will not hold cord that small.

Thanks for the pictures. I see the rings actually have a raised ridge on the edges that is rounded - that reduces the possibility of abrasion considerably and by increasing the turning radius, reduces the stress on the rope. Thanks again.

Hitchcraft is a member here and actually offered several sets to HF members for a free test a while back. Heard some good comments about them at that time and, as you can see, some folks continue to choose this option.

Yeah the HitchCraft RopeTies are an excellent product. I have several of the mini ropeties and like them better then the Figure 9s for a lot of applications. They are about the same weigh as the large Figure 9s, maybe slightly less. Easier to use.

Usual disclaimer - I have no commercial interest in HitchCraft

Would the mini ropeties be better for the Clark tarp than the Figure 9's. I would lean to the Figure 9's but would like to hear input. Thanks.

Yep, Jeff passed along a set to several HF members last year on the condition that they test & give a report.
I'm sorry to say that I didn't keep my end of the deal by fully testing them & writing a report.
The rope I had on hand was a little to smaller than recommended & didn't hold. I'll get the proper rope & do some testing & write the report.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
