    Picking a 3 Season Hammock

    Howdy all, New Guy here...

I'm looking to purchase my first camping hammock. I need set up with a 3 season (maybe even something that could go 3 in time) hammock.

I've seen the socks that Warbonnet offers and I really like the concept, I think it would make a huge difference for someone as cold-natured as I am. The thing is, after looking around I'm pretty well sold on a WL Lite-Owl but I can't find any "socks" for the Owl. I'm not DIY enough with fabrics to attempt such an endeavor myself so... are there any ways I can obtain one? Or, should I get a WB Traveler and try to mod it for better flat-lay use?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks and God bless,
    Adam

Remember...it is not so much the hammock that keeps you warm. It is your under-insulation (Pad, PLUG, UnderQuilt). Also a good tarp pitch to keep the wind at bay.
Have some good fun in your hammock-comfort quest.

    What Shug said.
Any of my hammocks can go 4-season with the proper accessories, but none of them can go 3-season without any accessories.

    Gents,

Thanks, I understand what ya'll are saying. Which gets back to the question about which hammock to get. Because I'm not sure whether or not I can get a sock for the WL Owl-Lite. So, is there a "sock" that works for it (I appologize the only one I know exists is the WB sock) or will I have to go with a different hammock to get the accessories I need?

    Thanks,
    Adam

I'm not aware of a sock designed for the WL Owls. That said, I'm betting you could find someone to make one for you if your heart is set on the Owl.

Better yet, take advantage of a situation. Socks are relatively easy to sew together. The only thing that makes them difficult is all the material that you have to keep out of the way. You might as well get the DIY skills now, this group practices a higher form of peer-pressure.

Get yourself a Clark. The weather shield acts as a sock and can be stored out of the way. The bug netting does the same and the pockets act as a mild insulator. All in one handy package.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

This is one of the neatest socks I have seen so far. But, I am fairly new here.

Absolutely agree with the posts about building an appropriate insulation system to stay warm in a variety of conditions.

Also my favorite, and when it or something very similar comes out for consumers to purchase, you can bet i'll be getting one.

You can get a sock from "Dream Hammock" aka Papa Smurf to fit your Lite Owl. Look under accesories> winter protection> sil sock. When you order you put in the ridge line length you want , so what ever RL length you set your Lite Owl for type that in. If you order the Lite Owl i would suggest getting the Adjustable Ridge Line kit . Hope this helps.
BTW,,i have a Lite Owl ,,like it very much.

My next DIY project - a sock. I think this sounds pretty easy.
