Hi all -
I had planned to take my 10 year old son to a nice camp location we found that is only 1/2 mile from a parking area and has well spaced pines, a stream, and flat walk in. The pines average about 4' - 6' thick, so it is not a older growth stand.
There is a Nor' Easter scheduled to come in, which means high winds and rain here in CT.
My thought was that this is a good oppty to show him how to be sure you are organized and prepared for bad weather.
We both have winter tarps, 10* TQ and 20*UG, and wind socks.
My wife feels that it is unsafe to bring a child camping in a storm but I think it is a great oppty for learning.
Anyone have any experience with this type of scenario?
Michael
