I use the Orbit lantern and I really enjoy it. Nice light and I can hook it on the ridge-line easy.

Tried hanging a light on the ridgeline once to read and found that every little movement caused the light to bounce around. Went back to the head lamp for reading, and then looping it over the RL for general lighting.

I use my head lamp as others have said; to go lightweight, I buy/carry one quality item. I used to carry two lights but since this isn't scuba diving (i learned the hard way to always night dive with two lights), I only use one now. Pick whichever but I'd recommend something that is LED, has a low setting that lasts forever and then a high setting that can really light up the situation if the need should arise. for that purpose I chose a headlight that uses CR123 batteries and I always carry one spare batteries. On my had lamp I can turn in on as dim as I want and it would last 100 hours or I can crank it up to a 120 lumen for an hour. Has a red plastic shield but I never use/carry that. One piece of gear. I do the same with knives, i carry one.

Hey guys thanks for all of the suggestions...It is greatly appreciated...I really want something that I can possibly read with or at least get situated while under the tarp and in the hammock...I like to carry two light sources and try to keep both sources using the same size batteries...You all posted some good stuff here so now I have to go through and check them ALL out...Thanks again!!!

Love the brightness and intensity, as well as the extremely compact size of Photon lights. The X lives on my keychain most times, except when camping.

I am in agreement with the quality and ergonomics of the Nite Ize with the clip. I leave it set up all the time, even while it's packed away. I also have a Coleman LED headlamp that I sling over the ridge line that has an assortment of various lighting options (red/white/blue).
