    Suggestion on my setup please!

This will be my first real hang this coming weekend with my own gear... as you can tell from the pics below this NOOB needs some help i am trying to figure out how to setup my tarp better. It doesn't have a very "crisp" ridge in the top. It seems to sag. So i took a 50 ft line i had added a carabiner on one end and put a prussic knot on the other, then tied my tarp using prusics as well to the ridgline. That didn't seem to help. I also through in my walking sticks with one wrap of the cords to make a porch i don't know if there is a better way to do that either. I was thinking i should be able to set this up better with the use of a few more carabiners. Any recommendations would be great, i got tons of biners laying around lol. Check out the pics below

    Thanks for the help guys!

There's nothing really "wrong" with it as is, but you can get more support with less sag if you run your ridge line under your tarp.

+1 I run my tarp ridgeline underneath. I think it gives a little better support. I also use prussics to connected to the ends of the tarp.

When in porch mode, I only use one wrap on my sticks as well.

That seems to me to be the easiest solution. Then you could use prussiks and biners to pull the ends taut.

I don't normally use hiking sticks, but I have tried them here in the yard. I set mine upside down, with the "sharp" end through the triangle tie out, and with the handle down on the ground.

I agree with ariothan because latter if you like hammock hangings you can make tarp hanging so much easier with a continuous ridgeline with pruisks and all that ridgeline goodness which is almost as good as bacon almost but not quite. Also what are you using for guylines I know I would trip all over the place if my guylines were not bright.

It doesn't look too bad. Try tying the ridgeline tighter to the trees before securing side tie outs. It does not have to be super tight because once you tighten the side tie outs the ridgeline will be pulled downwards which will tighten the lines coming from the trees. Also, it helps to have your pole right at the tarp so its the middle of a "Y". There will be less side movement that way.

Looks really good to me. I agree, make your tarp ridge line tight before staking it down.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

Thanks for all the responses everyone! I will absolutely try running the cord underneath and see how that works.

@SilvrSurfr - Yup its the Hennessy hex

@FlyingMonkey - ok ill give that a try, should it be more stable that way?

@ ninjahamockman - o i def like hammock camping! I bought my own after using a buddy of mines Clark for a few trips. I LOVE being off the ground its glorious! Yea the guy lines are black not so great lol.

@Bubba - That makes a lot of sense it should be a good bit more stable if i put them up closer, thanks!

Would there be a way to make the other end adjustable besides the prussic knot that would be easier with a biner?
