If you want a little bigger "bite" of the trail...

Instead of starting at the marina, drive north to Juniper Point (last left before crossing the Red into Oklahoma). The trail starts there. If going in Friday evening, there is a great spot to camp right on the water about 1.2 miles in. Trees perfect for a hammock. Then Saturday morning hike out out to either the 5 Mile Camp area or on to Eagle Roost (my favorite). Total mileage from Juniper Point to Eagle Roost is a little under 7 miles. Then hike back out to Juniper on Sunday morning.

I like the stretch between Juniper Point and the marina the best. The trail can get a little lost around the marina. Just walk the road down towards the water then off to the left and you'll hit the trail again.

Ya, I've always parked at Juniper. It is a bit confusing at the marina, and the empty soda machine is a real bummer on the way out

I'm not able to go this time. Isn't the trail like 14 miles in length, One-way?

ya, it's supposed to be 14 miles. I haven't done the entire trail yet. I've made it in 10 miles and decided that was far enough. I'm going to do the whole trail this weekend though. I'll do a video trip report.

Ok. I couldn't stand it, so I took tomorrow off and I'll be heading out there in the morning. I think it may be wet!
