First Setup of the Clark Vertex - Hammock for Two

We did it. We bought a Vertex.

After hearing about the fun I had with my Hennessy on the Four Pass Loop hike near Aspen, Colorado my wife started to get interested in hammock camping. Woo Hoo!

So that led me to the Vertex. It is one of the only solutions I found that would let us camp together (yes, we enjoy being together).

Here's a quick video of me doing the first setup. I had only rolled it out to tie on all of the little lines that come with it. This was the test setup.

    So far "WE" are impressed.

Do you have any underquilts? Could you do a video showing how the UQs hang/attach? I want a vertex for camping with the wife, but am concerned that normal UQs wont be able to snug correctly for a warm night

I think it works, but a Trip Report with two people would be the Best.

    Thanks for the comments.

We did not get underquilts from Clark. They said they are working on a z-liner for the Vertex, but it wasn't available. I grabbed two sleeping bags, paracord, shock cord, and some biners to make two underquilts.

I need to write up a trip report - 'cause we went out hiking Lost Creek Wilderness from Twin Eagles Trail head this past weekend. We = me, the misses, and our Cairn terrier. Our dog slept in the middle on the "gear shelf" snug as a bug.

The Vertex worked pretty good, but the suspension rope MUST GO AWAY. I can't stand working with nylon rope, it gives me flashbacks of working with cheap tow ropes at "the cabin".

The first night the footbed ended up a little low - could be a noob mistake, too much stretch from a long reach to the tree, or a combo of several factors. The second night was much better.

But both nights were cold. Better insulation is needed!

We took lots of pictures and some video, but didn't get any with the two of us in the hammock. Stay tuned - the trip report will come ... eventually.
