Trying to find the Penner Lake Group Hangers

Hey Folks.

Just over a month ago (probably around the first weekend in August) I was tent backpacking and I came across a group hammock hang at Penner lake in the Grouse ridge area of the Sierras. I expect they came in via Carr and Feeley lake.

Seeing that hang got me thinking since I had just spent an uncomfortable night at Rock lake on lumpy sloping ground. I've now built my own hammock and am building a SilNylon tarp.

So I was wondering, whoever you hangers were, if any of you are here on Hammock Forums? If so then we probably live in the same area and it might be cool to get together for an outing or at least say "Hi" and have a beer..

Who inspired me to get a hammock? Was it you?

Hmmm... Wasn't me. About that time I was at Carr/Feeley, Milk and Glacier lake. Haven't been to Penner. I do Want to go to French lake though.

Sidewinder, I've had good luck fishing at Milk Lake. I was just at Grouse Ridge 2 weekends ago but didn't get down to Milk lake. I tried fishing Downey lake but I've never had any luck there.

Thanks for the tip! Will certainly bring some tackle next time I'm there. I do find Milk lake a bit crowded since it's so close to the trail head. I want to push further into the backcountry to some of the less popular lakes. If you know of any that have decent fishing, I'm all ears!

I will also let you know when I head up that way again.

By the way, last year Carr lake had thousands of tiny 3 to 4" fingerlings. I think they stocked it. This year it should be fishing really well.

Island lake is fishing really well at sunset. I picked up 3 or 4 rainbow one evening about a month ago.
