    I've always wondered why they pronounce "Gros Ventre" in a way a Frenchman would recognize, but "Dubois" in a way that would make a Frenchman stick forks in his eyes.

    French trappers first settled the area many moons ago..and lots of french names scattered all over the west by the French explorers as well as Spanish.

    Great story and pictures. I fished that area about 7 years ago. It is beautiful. You are a lucky man to live there.
