    Two Person Hammock

Re:Two up in a Clark Hammock??? Yes.

From the Clark yahoo group site

    Hello everyone,

This is a great question. I am pleased to announce (exclusively to this group) that Clark will offer a 2-Person hammock available for sale before the end of 2008. This design, with patent pending, allows for two independent hammock beds with room for inside storage. This isn't just a really wide hammock where you just end up squished together all night. The new model allows the two occupants to be quite separated if they wish and in the morning you won't feel like you have anything but a Platonic relationship unless you want more than that. In fact, if one person gets up in the middle of the night, the other won't even feel it. Now, this all comes at a price. The hammock is nearly double the weight of a standard model, although the rain fly and pole can be carried by another person. The cost will be about double a solo hammock. The hammock also is suspended from 3 supports instead of two. However, in testing we have found that it isn't much harder to find three trees in a workable formation than it is to find two. In addition to being the only true 2-person camping hammock, this is also the most comfortable solo hammock ever built. You'll be amazed by the various sleeping posibilities (including spread eagle).

    More information will be forthcoming

That's awesome. A 2 person hammock has been a long time coming. I hope it works well.

Double the cost of a Clark?! What interest rate do they offer on that mortgage?

Seriously - this is a good step for hammocks. I'll have to see how the three-tree thing works out before I make up my mind, but if this works I might just have to finance one!

Interested in seeing the advantage of this over two DIY hammocks in a double-wide bugnet or hammock sock under a big tarp, too.

I don't think that weight savings was the point. Allowing two people to comfortably sleep together seems to be the objective here. But hey, maybe shared body heat would allow you to carry less insulation!

yeah right now i use a clark nx 200 for me an my hiking partner and we sleep in it pretty well not too many probablems we use it in the house every night with a hammock stand. Has a ridgeline so the sag is set to what we found comfy. I guess i cant say the double hammock wont work but the bigger the hammock for the two people the more space you have to heat or cover with a quilt. I would love to try this thing out i have been searching for a double person solution for a long time but i only have three months and I dont know if Clark will be releasing it with enough time for me to test it.

yeah we have a hammock stand and sleep in the hammock everynight we got rid of our bed along with most of our stuff in getting ready for our thru hike. I really is not that bad some people would not like it but it works for us really well and just slide a little higher up than her and she uses my arm as a pillow and i use a jacket as a pillow which helps with the sliding together probablem. It keeps my head level instead of leaning one way.

I think that two in one hammock is a real possibility and the clarks design with the high canoe type walls makes it work well.
