    My new tarp!

    Woo Hoo!

    No, not enough:

WOO HOO, OH MAN WOO HOO!!!!

    Long story, sort of.

Coffee got 9 yards of sil for me at a Ed Spear hangout in Hot Springs. Now, I can sew pretty good, have made a lot of clothing & such. But after practicing by making several stuff sacks & on scrap pieces of sil, I determined that I just couldn’t sew well enough to make a usable tarp.

SO (sew?) I contacted Brian at OES & in a pitiful text said "HELP!!!" Being the great guy Brian is, he took pity on me & for a slight fee took my material & turned it into a beautiful 13.5' X 10' tarp, with 12 tie outs beautifully sewn. He even attached a figure 9 to each end of the ridgeline. Since Brian is in college, & there isn’t much room in a college dorm room I did the seam sealing, so I got to look at each stitch on the ridge: Straight as an arrow, & dead even in spacing & stuff. On BOTH sides!!!

Just for the fun of it, I also checked the edges & attachment points, not a flaw in the lot of them.
Due to the size, set up takes a little longer than my homemade MacCat type tarp, & as I wanted a rectangle tarp, it now takes 3 stakes per side instead of just 2, (adding time) BUT, it fits in a much much smaller space then my modified SG nylon camo tarp! The time diff is about an additional 30 seconds, so i don't care, that plus I have only set up 2X, I'll get faster as I go.

As a rule, I do not get impressed easily (In fact it's d**** near impossible to impress me) BUT, I am VERY impressed with the quality of Brian’s work! And he only had my material for a few days, and is going to school.

Need a tarp, or anything else OES makes, I say go for it!!!!!!

How dare you make a post like this and not include pictures.

Congrats on the new tarp. How does the weight compare with the modified Gear Guide tarp you were using?

If he's still using that ancient disposable camera technology I last saw him with it will take a while. He has to use up all of the pictures, then find somewhere that still knows how to process them. Then wait atleast an hour and pick them up.

Oh Doctari, get them to put it on what's called a "CD". Just say the two letters to them and they will know what it is. That way you don't have to scan the pictures and go through all that exgtra trouble.

Or maybe a tin-type? Lithograph? Silent film? Cave drawing?

Will you have this one at the Winter Hangout?
