+1 on the florist wire or any small gauge craft wire your wife has in her craft boxs.

24 gauge painted floral wire works for me with 1.75 zing it. Use a pointed instrument of your choice to separate the strands and open the braid up ~1/2", then switch to the wire.

Cool. I haven't found it that small here. I need to check Hobby Lobby.

Finally finished my first Adjustable Ridgeline. That will be the first and last time I splice lash-it. My fingers are screaming at me in pain

If you want to hone your splicing skills, invest a couple of bucks in a roll of mason line. Its 3-4 dollars for a couple of 100 feet. Get a guitar string and go at it, practice makes perfect. Put yourself together a splicing kit.

I was splicing heavy braided line for marlin fishing long before I was hanging. All I ever needed was a Daho Reverse Latch Needle in the appropriate size.

They range anywhere from .430mm to 2.31mm OD. Last forever and is the only tool you'll ever need for splicing small diameter line.

They are sold everywhere in offshore fishing shops and online catalogs . Or just Google it!!

I used a piece of wire cut from an old spiral-bound notebook. Works a treat.

+1 on the tapering though: trying to do it with the ends untapered was an exercise in frustration!

Oh nice! I didn't realize that was your video. I watched that twice while I was waiting for my spool of zing-it to arrive and then got it to work on the first try in just a few minutes without watching a third time. Your video made it really easy. Thanks!

i don't think we've seen this before!! Bravo, as I'm find of finding tools from fishing, even if the wholesale adoption of swivel and links would hurt a favorite maker and vendor here.

I'll also remind that most everyone, you included, assume that the line will be pulled by a device inserted at the point the line is to be pulled out and run through the sleeve backward to retrieve and pull the line to be pulled.

There's an alternative; Use a yarn needle, inserted at the point from which the to-be-housed line is to run. These yarn needles sell in Walmart @ 3 for <$2.
