    My buddy's new job

I went over to my friend's house yesterday for an End of Summer BBQ and while in the garage the subject of jobs came up. I shared some war stories about the dealership I work at and he let me know how his Ph.D. in engineering was coming along.

I've known he has been working with synthetics and plastic but never knew what he was specializing in.

Until he told me the company that is hiring him: Samson Rope.

Yes. He is going to be on the engineering team that created the venerable Amsteel Blue.

So I did what any sane hanger would do and busted out my hammock to show off my whoopie slings. He thought they were awesome, but the 7/64" line seemed a little thick.

So his goal is to create a spliceable line thinner than 7/64" that can hold more weight.

I figured that would be interesting news to the people on here.

Oh, and now he wants me to show him more about hammock camping.

Sound like you need to volunteer for some field testing. Maybe some pre-production samples for us to pine over.
Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

Don't worry, plenty of that was discussed!

Along with me getting invited to the free rope day.

Let us know what he comes up with, I'd be "VERY" interested in something lighter to replace my Dynaglide Whoopies...

Who says Einstein and Edison weren't don't the same thing with their friends? I guarantee Nobel was lighting stuff on fire.
