    how does everyone hang packs?

or do they? I have seen people put it under the hammock. I have seen someone build a tri-pod. What about either attaching it to the ridgeline for the tarp or a separate line above them? Or maybe its in the hammock. I had some ideas and if I can clear some funds I plan on buying some materials in bulk so I can tinker.

I hang it from my hammock suspension. Depending on site, I hang my water bladder from one end and my (empty) pack from the other. As long as my head end is lower than my foot end, I'm good.

Of course, my pack is a DIY that's inspired by the Molly Mac Pack, so I have straps...y'know...right there...to hang it...

If the weather isn't going to be too bad, I'll usually whip a line around one of the trees I used for my ridgeline, attach my pack with a carbiner and then throw the pack's rain-cover over all. Granted the shoulder straps might get a little wet in a heavy downpour, but in that case, I will have likely already put the pack under my hammock onto the small tarp I keep there as a footmat.

Occasionally, I've also just dumped all my gear out onto the footmat and just dropped my bag on top of that shameful mess, as can be seen below my hammock in the attached photo.

I have a very small carabiner on the haul strap which I clip over the foot end hammock suspension. I then fasten the hip belt up around the hammock.

    Caribiners are great

New to this but the few times I have gone out I attach the pack to the tree straps with a caribiner (if there's no rain) or to the rings on the whoopie slings (all in one system) although I am not sure if that's a good idea. My pack isn't too heavy.

I either hang mine from a tree with the rain cover on, or put mine on my tyvek floor mat under my hammock...as long as everything smelling like food is up in a bear bag. Wouldn't want to wake up with a bear in my face

And if you carry an extra piece of cord you can hang you pack from that in the rain under the tarp without screwing up either the tarp or hammock. Then you can move the cord out and use it as a clothes line. ;-)

my thoughts are to make something I can slide in front of me or within arms reach. I like not having to get out of my hammock. I am thinking of something I can also attach my shoes to. Maybe either on biners or a pullie system of some sort.

I should have mentioned that on my hammock's structural ridgeline, I have the stock mesh bag filled with nightly gear (allergy medicine, headlight, hankie, Ipod) and then attach other things like my Fallkniven S1, spare headlight, etc.. directly to the line.
