This clip is from 2 years ago. The retention hooks were too light and since a modified them so they can't rotate like that. I also offered and will still replace any that don't have the nub at the top to prevent them from rotating.

I agree, the ones I had on were not quite a beefy as the other couple sets I have. I think I used them wrong or they would not have broken. Dutch is going to make it right. I'll let everyone know how the new ones work.

It was the first time I had used them. I had to change the suspension on my new BB to cinch buckles, that means changing straps because those cool lightweight thin straps that come on the BB slip in the cinch buckles I buy. So I put on a new pair. I had a few in my personal stock.

I think this happens more than we hear about. The forces on horizontal rigging can be enormous and can be multiples of body weight, not to mention knots, hardwear, sharp edges and bends can reduce the stated strength of lines and straps by over half.

Add to that the intense, sometimes irrational, quest to shave off grams, and we get a recipe for trial-and-error failures. (Not saying yours was that!)

Thanks to all who report when their butts hit whatever happens to be under them! Knowing about the failures is as helpful as hearing about the successes.
