    Sources for down

Just wondering where you guys get your down fill from.

I see a lot of Kmart pillows and such, is the down good from those?

I know that DIY gear supply carries it sometimes but, he's out right now.

I've found two other places but they're treating their down like it's made of spun gold ($11 or more/oz).

I just ordered some from wilderness logics http://wildernesslogics.com/DIY-Materials_c28.htm The price is great (6.75 an ounce) great service (quick shipping time) and best of all, they will package it in 1 or .5 ounce bags for you. (much easier to stuff-no measuring!) Also, free shipping if you order more than 85 dollers worth. (continental US only) I looked all over the internet for deals on down, and no one else even comes close to this price! If you do order from these guys, ck out some of the other diy gadgets they have--I ordered a few of the zipper pull compasses-----its a full functioning compass, that doubles as a zipper pull!

FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

The best pillows to harvest from are the "blommingdales: my luxe". They can be found on ebay for around $60 a pop which gets you close 35 oz. Of 800the fp.

Is this for the king size pillow? Do I need to look for a certain density to get the 32 oz?

I can never find a good deal on the Bloomingdale pillows anymore.
As to the Kmart pillows the consensus is its 550 FP, but that is based on hunch and some loose math.
Kmart Fill power is only around 550 but the quality is good. I had only two feathers in 16oz pillow.

    Depends

How much do you need? You can buy it directly from Feathertex for ~$2.50/oz depending on which fill power you want. Two pound minimum though.

Now that's a freakin deal! I wonder how good the 100% down is?

Thanks for all the input fellas. I'll be researching but I have a feeling the 2lb's from feathertex is gonna be my item. Not that I need that much but if I can get what I need I'll just sell the rest.

I'll try to source the bloomingdale pillow first.

Reviving an old thread with a perennial question: Any 800FP pillows out there to be had reasonably? A couple pounds o' down for a reasonable price?
    What's the word?
    Thanks,
