I added a column to the spreadsheet titled "Bringing something for the raffle? What?" This may help get an idea of some raffle items coming.

Well, it looks like my daughter (she decided her forum name is"Chickadee") is almost certainly going. She has the necessary gear to keep her warm and dry and on top of the snow if we have any. Only real threat is whether her school will allow her to miss two days.
I'm bringing an assortment of items for the raffle, including rechargeable heat packs and a bonsaifilter or two, likely some more goodies as well.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver
OK, happy Knew Yeer Y'all!
Just (counting today) 18 days till MRHO, or 17 for some of us
For those arriving on the 17th or sooner, be sure to pay your per night fee at the gate for less than $10.00 a car. (I THINK $8.00 a night, don't quote me.) & hang the ticket as required.
For Friday Sat & Sun the group campground fee pays for all attending.
As to fees: The Raffle pays for the Group campground and the privy rental, so dig deep
2 funny stories from years past:
We are not always the only ones out there, some of our people have followed foot prints the wrong way, thinking they were following "our" people's prints.
Got back to the salt covered cars only to find them all licked clean by (what we think were) the wild ponies in the area.
Reminders:
Not a hangers only event!!!
You can forget your diet, not likely to gain weight on this outing.
Bring extra clothing for the ride home, and for while at the hangout.
A TIGHTLY SEALED AND LEAK PROOF water bottle with hot water in it can make for a much warmer night. I suggest putting it by your feet.
Even if you don't normally wear one, BRING A HAT!!
Gloves!
Rain Gear!!!!!
Camera!!
Insulation for your water bottle!!
IF local to / near Grayson, bringing firewood would be nice!
If you get in trouble, ask for help! If someone offers help, you may need it but can't see that, TAKE THEIR HELP!!
If you see someone in trouble give help! They may need it but can't see it, BE VERY INSISTENT!!
Did you sign up? If so, cool, 11 have! If not, come anyway!
I look forward to seeing you all there!!
Should be a great time!

When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
Here's the signup spreadsheet.
I'm donating a Turtledog Stand to the raffle. It's a good stand, but I'm blessed with lots of trees around here and don't really need it. It can be useful at group hangs, though. I'll set it up near the campfire, so if you have a hammock you want to show off, feel free to use it until it's raffled off.
I'm in! Got Friday off from work, so I'll be down there around noon or so on Friday at the group site.
I have to figure out what I'm bringing for the potluck yet. Maybe some scrapple.

Mike,
Definitely bring scrapple! Livermush is a poor substitute.
Update for those who worry about stuff like this:
I talked to Ranger Marcella ("Marcy") Holland on new years eve, we are a go for the hangout at the group campground & the "Jobsite Johnny" privy is ordered for the weekend.
I wasn't worried about getting the site, cause as Marcy & Kevin ("Our" rangers) say, "You are the only ones crazy enough to camp in this weather!" I took it as a compliment!
I'll be calling the Log House Restaurant Tuesday before with how many people plan on going Sunday for Breakfast / Lunch.
My plans still stand for Thursday: A; Hike to Mt Rogers summit from Massie Gap. B; hike to the Wise from Massie Gap. C; Hike to the Wise from the group CG parking lot. Am going to TRY to be at / near Massie Gap by around 1300 - 1400.
See you all there!

Long term temps are looking pretty moderate at this time. Of course things change quickly, but I'm rooting for cool & dry. Snow would be a bonus.
14 days from now we'll be living the good life!
