Now they are calling for several inches of snow here in the Piedmont of NC... more so in the mountains of NC & VA.
Winter Storm Warning in Virginia. There may be quite a bit of snow after all. Watch those roads.

    Hi everyone!

Cor here (Bonsaihiker's wife) -- if you look at the webcam at 10:40ish a.m. yesterday, you'll see his tan Sienna van with Rocketbox and Doctari's pulk on top of it. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the brownies!!!

Marci from the park here with a quick update. We got about 12 inches of snow here last night. The park road is in pretty bad shape, but the maintenance ranger is working on plowing. I tried to get up to the campground last night but couldn't make it up even to the Sugarlands overlook. Early arrivals may have some difficulty, especially in 2WD or AWD vehicles.

I'll try to get back on later for an update, but I am off today and plan on spending as much of the day as I can sledding!

Power and phones are both out at the park with no estimate on when they will be back on. You can try the office for updates at 276 579 7092. Hopefully the phones will be up soon.

Thanks for the update Marci. I hope everyone will stay safe & enjoy the snow.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to stay home. Last night I discovered that my gas hot water heater is leaking water from the bottom.

Y'all have fun & take a few pictures

Bummer! Well the roads are relatively clear and a beautifully sunny afternoon is melting of what was not scraped. Your fellow hangers have camp set up, a drying rack for wet clothes and a cheery vibe in camp. I'll plan on running by this evening to check in.

Still no power or phone, but plenty of snow!

    Marci

I'm home, long story, may post why later,,,, anyway: I was asked by a few to post that all are well & having a GREAT time! Like Marci says, lots & lots of snow, relatively warmish temps. AS we were leaving a fire was being prepared & food being discussed.
We had a large crowd last night, I counted 11 of us. Had a great time, but leaving was the right thing to do.

Sorry to miss all who arrive today & Sat, see you next year!

    Doctari / Gary.

Doctari beat me to it, but I had family duties and a shower, now going to bed. Long day yesterday--will give more info later, but Chickadee and I are feeling very blessed to be home. There was a point last night when I seriously thought I might not make it back. Illness, exhaustion, dehydration, and hypothermia are a bad combination. I still am having trouble staying warm and I'm at home in bed. Slowly getting the internal furnace going again. I want to thank EVERYONE there, from the bottom of my heart, for the support and assistance we got. Hickery, your coffee literally saved the day and gave me the energy I needed to get back on the road.

Great to see you all again, and I'm really sorry I missed the rest of you.
