Ridgeline to high?

When you are laying in your hammock, how far away is your ridge line? When I lay in my hammock my ridge line is WAY out of reach (picture extended arm and add another 2ish feet). I know there will be a lot of influence with length of hammock and length of ridge line. Additionally it will be different for each person, but I just wanted to see if mine was too far away (out of reach). Does a ridge line organizer/ditty hang down that low (i don't have one, but thinking of getting one)? FWIW, 6'1",190lbs, 120"x60" gather-end, 100" RL. I am new to this so will accept all info. Thanks!

My Warbonnet Blackbird has a 101" ridge line (it's adjustable) and its about 18" above my chest. Your dimensions aren't that different than mine (hammock and ridge line wise).

Does your hammock have a lot of stretch? (fabric wise)

How is your ridge line attached?

Can you show us a picture? Bet we can tell you the problem then or at least come up with some suggestions.

You may want to check the angle at which you're hanging. Sometimes if it's too steep you can get a lot of sag which places you further away from your ridgeline. Do you have any pics of you in it? That might help. Keep playing with the angles and let us know how things are working.

I like my tarp ridgeline set high enough that I can walk under it without bending over. 6' or a little more. That also puts my tarp up enough to enjoy the view.

It does sound high. I am 5'6" and on my WBBB, my RL is 99 inches and the hammock is around 10', probably a little less due to the whipping but I can reach up and touch my RL no problem. Since you are taller, you should have no problems touching your RL.

Measure the length of your hammock material and the length if your ridgeline. When you divide the ridgeline length by thee hammock length, you should get between 0.8 and 0.87

You should be able to hang your headlamp, etc. on the ridgeline and reach it with no problem.

I was thinking the same thing as Syb - I think your angles are too steep. Try putting your tree straps lower or use trees that are a little farther apart.

My Blackbird is about the same dimensions as your hammock. When I set it up, I take all the slack out of the ridgeline, but not not so much that it's tight - it should bend easily. (I hope that makes sense.) When you lay in the hammock, the ridgeline should be taut, but not so tight that you can play music on it

On my 10' its about 2' from my head. On my 12' though it's often out of reach. The 12' hangs best with a lot of droop however.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my BIAS WWM. I have to sit up in the hammock to reach the ridge line. I've not had this problem with my WBBB when hanging from the same place!
My angles are at 30* maybe a little less. My ridge line is 9 ft & my hammock is 11ft.

I have no problem reaching my ridge line in my BIAS micro. I have an adjustable ridge line and do move it, depending on the hang distance. Don't keep it overly tight and I'm kind of a short lightweight at 5'9".
Wondering if you are laying at a good diagonal or not. I tend to push it to the sides as much as possible.
